Karen Brunning MA, BSc (hons)
Counselling, Psychotherapy, Ecotherapy
The first session is an assessment session. This will provide us both with an opportunity to consider whether we wish to work together. It is important that we both feel comfortable in the therapeutic relationship.
All information given by the client is treated as confidential and will not be discussed outside of the counselling session. However, you should to be aware that I engage in regular counselling supervision where case details will be shared with a qualified professional supervisor. Both myself and the supervisor adhere to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.
Any information I hold about you or the sessions are stored in accordance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations). After our work is completed any personal details are deleted.
While the counselling process is treated in the strictest confidence there are occasions when it may become necessary to break confidentiality. We may need to discuss the possibility of external agencies being contacted if there are issues of harm to self or to others or acts of a serious criminal nature.
Counselling sessions will last for 55 minutes. Please arrive at the allocated time for your session. If you are late arriving the session will terminate at the usual time.
If you are unable to make an appointment please give as much notice as possible. If you cancel an appointment giving less than 24 hours notice 50% of the fee will be payable.
Any threatening, violent or inappropriate behaviour will be regarded as a termination of the counselling agreement.
Clients are expected to arrive for the session in a physical condition suitable for counselling work to be constructive.
